Poralu to build Burnett Heads marina
French marina manufacturer chosen to construct new Queensland project.
French marina constructor Poralu Marine has been chosen to design and build the new Gateway Marina at Burnett Heads in Queensland.
The marina development has permission to build a 273-berth marina at the mouth of the Burnett River 20kms from Bundaberg. The developers, BH Developments QLD Pty Ltd, recently invited applications for the first release of 56 berths.
The first berths, due to be opened later this year, will be designed to accommodate single and multi-hull vessels up to 27 metres as well as two additional commercial berths able to accommodate vessels up to 32 metres.
Founded in 1982, Poralu Marine is based in France with offices in Hong Kong and Melbourne. It employs 150 people and is represented in 25 countries. Last year it completed an extension to the Prince of Wales Bay Marina in Hobart, Tasmania.
The company said it was a prime candidate for the Burnett Heads project due to its commitment to delivering eco-friendly solutions.
“Poralu Marine is deeply involved in the development and manufacturing of eco-innovative solutions for port facilities,” said the company in a statement.
“For the Bundaberg project, the developer indicated the employment of sustainable materials. BH Developments required the use of green technologies for power and water, and the respect of natural habitat for local species. This is where the experience of Poralu Marine made the difference.
“Poralu Marine has always strived to provide the most innovative solutions to limit the impact of marina developments on the environment. In the past, the company developed eco-friendly mooring and anchoring technologies and made strong investments in innovations, dedicated to helping protect coastal and inland marine areas.”
