Raymarine updates Evolution Autopilot software
New software update to improve autopilot steering performance.
FLIR Systems has announced that it is updating its Raymarine Evolution Autopilots with the availability of Release 4 (R4) for download.
Describing the new release as “the most significant update” to the Evolution system, FLIR said R4 is designed to improve the accuracy of measured wind angles and speed, thereby increasing the responsiveness of the autopilot to prevailing wind conditions.
A new feature with the upgrade is TrackIQ which is designed to compensate for sea conditions and vessel motion to deliver more accurate steer to GPS waypoint tracking.
“With our advanced Evolution heading and positioning sensing technology, Raymarine autopilots have set a new standard for accurate and responsive autopilot performance in the boating industry,” said Grégoire Outters, vice president and general manager of FLIR Maritime. “Evolution R4 takes our best-in-class autopilot steering performance to a new level of precision and control that will surely delight and instill confidence in every boater and sailor.”
R4 also features user interface enhancements and improved automatic calibration for easier commissioning and operation while underway.
Evolution R4 is available as a free upgrade to all Raymarine Evolution autopilot owners via the Raymarine website.
