Look both ways with new Garmin transducer
Latest addition to Panoptix range offers option of two LiveVü modes when trolling.
The latest PS22-TR Panoptix transducer from Garmin offers users the option of using either LiveVü Forward and LiveVü Down sonar imaging, enabling them to see either what’s in front of them or below them in real time.
The PS22-TR is designed for installation on a trolling motor and is aimed at freshwater, estuary and inshore anglers targeting bass, barramundi and bream as well as jewfish, snapper and kingfish on relatively shallow reefs.
Unlike traditional or scanning sonar, which provides only historical data of what’s been passed over, LiveVü Forward shows images of fish swimming toward or away from the boat in real-time while LiveVü Down shows moving sonar images below the boat. This allows anglers to watch the movement of fish and the reactions to their lures/baits up to 30m away.
The simple mounting design is intended to make it easy for users to switch between the different viewing modes depending on how they want to fish.
The Panoptix PS22-TR is compatible with the Garmin echoMAP CHIRP 75sv and 95sv, the GPSMAP 752xs/952xs and 1022xsv/1222xsv series displays, and GPSMAP 8400 and 7400xsv series. Mounting hardware is included to install the transducer on the shaft or barrel of a trolling motor.
Following its local debut at the Sydney International Boat Show, the PS22-TR is expected to be available from next month for $1499 RRP.
