Quickdraw Contours software available as free update for Garmin fishfinders.

Supplied as standard on the 2016 range of echoMAP CHIRP fishfinders from Garmin, the Quickdraw Contours mapping software is also available as a free upgrade for other echoMAP models and many GPSMAP series products.

The software can be used with any transducer from Garmin including Panoptix, HD-ID, DownVü and NMEA 2000 transducers.

The software enables boaters to create their own detailed contour maps of the underwater terrain as they travel. Drawn with 30cm contours, the maps are generated in real-time as the boat moves or created in the background for use at a later time.

The software also enables users to create their own points of interest (POI) and waypoints. The POIs can be used to note interesting information about a particular location, and waypoints can be added to mark a favourite fishing spot or other location for future reference.

The collected map data can be stored on any off-the-shelf SD or microSD card as well as Garmin BlueChart g2 and BlueChart g2 Vision cards.

Once the maps have been created, they can be shared by copying to another storage device or kept private. Garmin does not require the data be shared and there is no fee to keep it private.

According to Garmin, initial testing of Quickdraw Contours in Australia has so far seen it used in water ranging 3m to 300m in depth, making it ideal for all fishing applications, from freshwater impoundments and estuaries to inshore reefs and bluewater fishing over the shelf.
