Add Navionics charts to your iOS apps
Free developer tool available to add maps to mobile Apple apps.
Electronic navigation chart developer, Navionics, has released a software development kit (SDK) which will enable iOS app developers to integrate Navionics charts with their apps.
The company previously made available web application programming interfaces (API) for developers wanting to integrate the charts into their websites. Now the company has released its free mobile SDK for iOS which will enable users to display charts and maps on iPad and iPhone apps.
Apps which are set to include the Navionics functionality include ProNav’s trolling motor route creation, Pro Angler’s fishing locations, Sail Timer’s tack display, AnemoTracker’s wind data and Siren Marine’s vessel tracker. To see Navionics Nautical Chart and SonarChart for marine areas and lakes within these apps, users will need to purchase the Navionics Boating app or renew their Navionics+ subscription, if expired.
Navionics offers a complete cartography resource encompassing depth data in contours up to 0.5m, spot soundings, detailed shorelines and navigational objects, all of which are updated daily.
