Yamaha buys US trim tab manufacturer
US-based Yamaha Marine division adds Bennett Marine trim tabs.
With outboard manufacturers increasingly looking to integrate auxiliary systems with their engines, Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A, has moved to buy the US trim tab manufacturer, Bennett Marine.
Based in Florida, Bennett Marine has been making adjustable trim tabs since the late 1950s and recently launched the Bolt electric trim tab and AutoTrim Pro automatic systems. The company will become part of the newly-created Yamaha subsidiary, Yamaha Marine Systems Company, Inc., (YMSC) which also includes fuel tank manufacturer Kracor which was acquired last month.
“Through the acquisition of Bennett Marine, Yamaha Marine has the capability to further broaden our offerings to boat builders and provide even greater integration of Yamaha marine systems,” said Ben Speciale, president of Yamaha Marine Group. “Bennett Marine has a long-standing reputation for building durable, reliable trim tab systems that can be found on boats all over the world.
“The integrity of the Bennett Marine brand aligns well with the Yamaha Marine brand, and we look forward to delivering top quality products together.”
Bennett Marine claims to be the world's largest manufacturer of hydraulic and electric trim tab systems with millions sold over the past 50 years in more than 60 countries.
“We’re very excited to become part of the Yamaha Marine family and look forward to continuing the great legacy of producing innovative and high quality boat levelling solutions well into the future,” said Charles Sweet, CEO Bennett Marine, Inc. “We believe this acquisition will enable us to innovate and expand at a pace unparalleled in the industry.”
