Local transport specialist Pro Quip has taken the US-made Hoppy Trailer Break-Away System and developed a wireless link facility to suit Australian conditions.
The smart use of a built-in wireless transmitter coupled to a proven trailer break-away system meets NSW RTA regulations. This new technology complies with the stipulation that a driver must have a visible means (while at the driver's seat) of knowing the remote system battery is charged or being charged. Information from the trailer Break-Away unit is sent via a wireless connection via a new transmitter within the unit to a compact receiver on the dash, powered from the cigarette lighter.
The new upgrade is the work of LED lights that keep the driver informed of the break-away battery condition to comply with the regulations.
"This is a good example of smart local technology upgrading a top US-made system to meet our individual conditions," says Pro Quip's Stuart Broadley.
"It is all based on our top-selling Trailer Break-Away but its real advantage is the way this new wireless LED receiver can be used in any towing vehicle without the need for wiring."
The large market for the new system is for large boats, caravans and mobile homes which travel on the east coast.
"This one really is a must-have right now for trailers with a GTM (Gross Trailer Mass) over 2 tonnes as it complies with the regulations and is easy to fit, as well as remove and retro fit to other vehicles." Broadley said.
