Whittleys declare bankruptcy

DOCUMENTS obtained by Marine Business reveal boatbuilders Neville and Steven Whittley have both declared bankruptcy.

The bankruptcies took place on 8 June, 2010, several days before the Federal Magistrates' Court of Australia was due to hear an application by Marine Power International Pty Ltd to bankrupt Neville Whittley over an unpaid judgement debt. They remain undischarged bankrupts.

Marine Business understands that Marine Power International had issued bankruptcy proceedings against both Neville and Steven Whittley.

Last year the Whittley brothers' companies, Whittley Marine Industries Pty Ltd and Whittley Cruisers Pty Ltd, both entered into voluntary administration. The administrations ended when the companies entered into formal arrangements with their creditors which allowed the companies to trade on.

Notifications of Bankruptcy – Debtors Petition documents reveal that the bankrupt estates of Neville James Whittley owed creditors, including the National Australia Bank, Marine Power International Pty Ltd and various other companies a total of $3,177,653.00 and the bankrupt estates of Steven John Whittley owed creditors a total of $3,069,869.00.
