Sydney dealer to sell electric motors as two-stroke outboard alternative.

Sydney boat dealer, Boating Connexions, best-known for its range of AB Inflatable and Aurora RIBS, has signed up to represent the Torqeedo range of electric outboards.

Power Equipment based in Melbourne took on the distribution of Torqeedo earlier this year with the aim of establishing a network of dealers for the German-built electric outboards.

Neil Solomons at Boating Connexions said the dealership is currently the only outlet in Sydney selling directly to the public. He has demo models at the company's offices in Taren Point as well as a model fitted to a boat at the Empire Bay marina at Bobbin Head where he is planning to give demonstrations at this week's open day.

The Torqeedo outboards will also feature on the Boating Connexions stand #102 at the Sydney International Boat Show.

The outboards are billed as a clean, maintenance-free alternative to two-stroke engines suitable for tenders, RIBs and small dinghies. The range starts at 1.5hp from $2,530 or 3hp from $3,080. There is also a 1hp Ultralight model suitable for canoes and kayaks.
