NSW Maritime is calling for tenders for a vessel capable of performing offshore patrols and coastal passages for the South Coast region.
NSW Maritime acting manager of Boating Safety Craig Whitmore said the boat will replace an older vessel.
“We are seeking tenders for an aluminium rigid hull inflatable vessel between 9.5m and 11m, powered by either outboard motors or diesel engines,” Whitmore said.
“The vessel should be capable of performing offshore patrols and coastal passages with the necessary ergonomics and navigation and safety equipment.”
Whitmore said the patrol boat would be used by Maritime Boating Safety Officers in compliance and education patrols to promote boating safety. Such patrols last year resulted in more than 40,000 on-water safety checks by Boating Safety Officers state-wide.
The new Maritime patrol vessel will be berthed at Port Kembla and deployed for boating safety work in and around the South Coast or where needed.
Tenders close on 27 October 2011. Visit the NSW eTendering website for further information at www.tenders.nsw.gov.au, RFT ID: 1101004.
