Suzuki's portable donks

SUZUKI Marine's new DF8 and DF9.9 four-stroke portable outboards offer boaties big features in a compact package that is ready to go wherever the action is.

With a weight of only 39.5kg for the manual start/short shaft models, these new portables are easier to transport and handle. The DF8 and DF9.9 are available with tiller steering and a choice of easy-pull manual or electric starting.

At the heart of the DF8 and DF9.9 is a new inline two-cylinder overhead cam powerhead with 208cc displacement and Digital CDI ignition for smooth idling, crisp acceleration and significantly better fuel economy, especially during low to mid-range operation.

“We’ve been working closely with the factory to create a new generation of four-strokes that is lighter, stronger and even more fuel efficient,” said Greg Haines, MD sales and marketing for Haines Suzuki Marine.

“These new outboards prove that, even on portable engines, Suzuki’s smart technology can significantly enhance fuel economy. Our focus is to continually improve and provide the ultimate in four-stroke outboard options for boaties in the Australasian market.”

Not all the sophisticated technology is under the cowl, however. Suzuki’s DF8 and DF9.9 also feature an innovative Suzuki-Function Tiller Handle design that incorporates forward/neutral/reverse shifting, throttle operation and throttle friction adjustment right into the streamlined tiller handle. This allows boaters to perform all these functions without removing their hands from the tiller, for an easier, more confident boating experience.

The new DF8 and DF9.9 are already available through authorized Suzuki Marine dealers and have an RRP starting at $3189.
