SIBS to honour David Lockwood
Boat show marina to be named after well-known boating journalist.
The marina at this year's Sydney International Boat Show (SIBS) will be named the David Lockwood Marina in memory of the well-known boating journalist who died in May.
“David was an excellent writer and terrific friend to the boating industry,” said Alan Blake, BIA president. “He was passionate about his writing and reporting of recreational maritime pastimes, contributing to newspapers, magazines and even online video reviews.
“David passed away after a short illness earlier this year, and we’re immensely proud and pleased David’s family allowed us to share our appreciation of his work in this way.”
David Lockwood was a long-time columnist for Afloat magazine and editor at boatsales.com.au as well as being a regular speaker at SIBS on a range of boating topics. He was also well-known for his long-running Tidelines page and as a major contributor to the Sydney International Boat Show preview in the Sydney Morning Herald.
