RIVERGATE Marina and Shipyard has designed, developed and constructed a new multi-purpose vessel capable of quickly and efficiently clearing debris from the Brisbane River.
“After an extensive search to find a work boat to meet our requirements, Rivergate made the decision to build our own which we have dubbed Rivergate’s Clean Marina vessel,” said GM Steve Fisher.
“Over four months was spent developing, perfecting and constructing the new Rivergate Clean Marina Vessel to not only collect debris from the Brisbane River but also to act as a sturdy support vessel to the marina,” said Fisher.
The six metre vessel has a hydraulic powered conveyor belt on the bow which when lowered into the water collects rubbish and debris before emptying it into a removable basket for easy disposal.
It has proven to be a successful and effective way of cleaning the waterway to ensure the marina remains clear of debris River after a rain event.
The Rivergate Clean Marina Vessel is powered by a 60 horse power high thrust four-stroke Yahama outboard engine. As a new generation Yamaha with decreased emissions, the engine is one of the cleanest, most efficient engines on the market.
“Yamaha Motor Australia are very pleased the Rivergate Marina have chosen the Yamaha FT60 (high thrust) to power their rubbish recovery vessel. The F60 Yamaha has long set the benchmark in midrange engines across Australia and the FT60 is the most popular choice when a large heavy boat needs power, said Brett Hampson Yamaha national sales and marketing manager.
"As a business located in the Rivergate complex it is pleasing to see the recovery boat going about it’s daily job of keeping the river clean, well done to Rivergate for such a worthwhile project and setting the standard for other companies to follow,” he said.
Constructed to Queensland Survey standards, the Rivergate Clean Marina Vessel will also be available to support yacht movements and the daily operations of the marina and shipyard.
