RFD has released a new range of life rafts specifically targeting the offshore yachting and racing markets.
The RFD Transocean life raft meets both ISAF and Yachting Australia standards, being perfectly suited to Australian offshore racing conditions.
The RFD Transocean raft is a canister style raft designed to be deck mounted. There are 4 man, 6 man, 8 man, 10 man and 12 man models in the RFD Transocean raft range. This raft is one of the very few life rafts approved by an independent third party to meet Yachting Australia specifications.
As a life raft is used when a vessel has sunk or sinking is imminent, boaters need to be absolutely confident that their life raft is manufactured from the best materials and will perform under adverse conditions.
The RFD Transocean uses a 110Decitex PVC for the outer envelope as it offers extreme resistance to abrasion. The inner chamber is constructed from an exceptional polyurethane sheet which provides absolute water and air tightness. According to RFD the material has an astonishing stretching capacity of 500 per cent.
Under the most adverse conditions, the supplied floating anchor will provide more stability, with a generous area drogue and 30 metres of line.
To aid in rescue, the RFD Transocean has a flouro orange tent with both retro reflective and radar reflecting stripes attached.
The arch tube automatically inflates, simultaneously with the tubes. An anti-return valve guarantees sufficient buoyancy in the arch tube even in the unlikely event of a tube puncture. A lithium powered light is fitted to the top of the canopy, and after manual activation, the light can emit a beam for about 12 hours.
