Police investigate suspicious Taren Point boat workshop fire

NSW Police are investigating the cause of a fire which destroyed a factory belonging to Neptune Marine in Sydney’s south last night.

At about 11pm, numerous calls were made to triple zero to report a boat repair workshop on Bay Road in Taren Point was well-alight.

Fire fighters were quickly able to contain the blaze, with only one adjoining industrial premises suffering minor fire and smoke damage.

The fire was extinguished and is believed to have caused more than $1 million damage. The factory was empty at the time of the blaze.

A crime scene has been established which will be examined by fire investigators this morning in a bid to determine the cause of the blaze.

Police said early indications suggest the fire is suspicious.
