NOMINATIONS for the NSW Maritime Medal awards close on 30 September.
NSW Maritime acting deputy chief executive Steve Dunn said the Maritime Medal recognises outstanding contributions in the area of boating safety, the environment or the community.
“Launched in 2006, the Maritime Medal is an award scheme to recognise role models, both individuals and groups, who have made an outstanding or sustained contribution to the maritime community,” Dunn said.
“I encourage those of you who were considering nominating a person or a group for the Maritime Medal to do so soon.”
Dunn said that the awards are a way of expressing thanks to those people who are making extraordinary efforts for the maritime community.
Nominations are judged by the NSW Maritime Medal Committee which includes representatives of NSW Maritime’s peak advisory body. Winners will receive their award at a ceremony to be held in November.
