Marine Jet Power opens WA base
Waterjet propulsion specialist sets up in Perth to service Asia-Pacific market.
Swedish waterjet propulsion manufacturer Marine Jet Power (MJP) has opened a new office in Perth as a base from which to service the Asia-Pacific region.
Based in Uppsala, Sweden, the company supplies waterjet propulsion for a range of maritime applications including government patrol craft, service vessels for wind farms and the oil industry, passenger vessels and pleasure yachts.
Company CEO Magnus Sörenson, CFO Erling Tomasson and EVP of sales and marketing Damian O’Toole travelled to Australia for the opening of the new office which is located in the Australian Marine Complex overlooking Jervis Bay in WA. Co-located with IKAD Engineering, the office has close proximity to a number of shipyards and fleet operators in the area.
“Our commitment to the region is firm,” said Magnus Sörenson. “Opening an office in Western Australia in addition to our existing office in South Korea will further strengthen our service capabilities in the fast-growing APAC market.”
The new office, which will be led by regional director Paul Hague, will provide support to local customers ranging from parts fulfilment to a local phone service for builders and operators in Australia and South-east Asia.
“We are extremely pleased for the opportunity to be working with IKAD Engineering, their dedicated marine repair facility is well suited for the needs of MJP as we continue to grow in the APAC region,” said Hague. “This strategic location will allow us to better service and support customers in the region by providing a more hands-on, accessible and localised approach.”
The new headquarters, due to be fully operational by March 1, is located at 31 Stuart Drive, Henderson WA 6166.
