First 788SF model goes on display at Brisbane Boat Show.

Billed as one of the “largest legally trailerable boats in Australia”, the new Haines Signature 788SF model was unveiled to the public for the first time at the Brisbane Boat Show last week. The boat was completed just days before the show and is yet to be tested on water. It was also missing a T-Top which will be part of the finished boat.

John Haines of The Haines Group said the new model answers the growing demand for larger trailerable boats, particularly from offshore game fishers whose options are limited to aluminium boats or imported fibreglass models, typically from the US.

“There’s nothing out there on the market quite like the 788SF at the moment and we feel it satisfies the needs of a number of different types of customers, but serious fishos will appreciate its sheer size and functional casting space combined with its towability and impressive performance capabilities,” said Haines.

“Currently, customers seeking a larger class of fishing boat have to look at the aluminium boat market as an option, so we’ve released the 788SF to cater for those who want all the bells and whistles but in a fibreglass construction, while still being able to legally tow it with a large family 4WD.”

The model on display featured twin Suzuki DF350A outboards but the boat is currently specified for either a single 250-400hp outboard or twin 200hp engines. Features include Suzuki joystick control, CZone electronics, JL Audio system with Roswell speakers, two 16” Simrad NSS evo3 units with StructureScan 3D transducer, wifi and GPS, stainless steel rod holders, live bait tanks, underfloor kill tanks and 500 litre fuel tank.

A clever design feature is the fold-down dash which contains all the electronics and wiring in one easily-accessible location. The centre console also contains a shower, toilet and sink with hot and cold fresh water.

Haines said there had been no compromise on quality in the construction of the 788SF with the new model incorporating all the familiar Haines Signature construction features including wood-free Thermalite construction with foam-filled underfloor cavities, Carbon Kevlar hull reinforcement and the patented Signature Variable Deadrise Hull.

The 788SF is priced from $149,000 for a boat, motor, trailer package (with Suzuki DF250APXX, Dunbier alloy trailer and features, as standard) and is available to order now, with first deliveries expected later this year.
