The Club Marine Mandurah Boat Show is Western Australia’s largest and most notable boating event, bringing together a collection of more than 600 boats from all sizes.
The Show has grown from being a local event to now an international event, with exhibitors coming from across the country, and now from other countries, to display at the Show. The Show is designed to promote the Western Australian boating lifestyle and as such incorporates things such as fishing, camping, fashion and cooking which is all related to the water lifestyle. This year’s show has everything from $10 million luxury cruisers and yachts to the smallest tinnies, jet skis and kayaks.
A huge variety of accessories, electronics, fishing and camping gear, clothing and more complete the displays and a massive range of entertainment, demonstrations and activities.
“There has been a definite shift over the years of the Show from a focus on fishing boats to a more family-oriented show with a diverse range of products to suit the family needs,” said show director Peter Woods.
Woods said despite the slower economic conditions the show has maintained a consistent presentation of all boating retailers, averaging 200 exhibitors per show.
“Average visitor attendance has been down from the peak of the market, but still draws crowds of more than 20,000 – showing that the popularity of boating in WA is still high,” he said.
Woods announced that three of the luxury boats on display this year are over 80 feet long.
“Sunseeker Australia has always been a big supporter of the Mandurah Boat Show, and this year they will be displaying five boats, including the massive Predator 84. The Predator 84 brings additional new technologies and detailing and is set to turn heads with an impressive design-speed of 44 knots,” Woods said.
Woods said there were two very exciting Australian releases on show from JW Marine and Princess Yachts.
This year’s Show has 600 boats on display, with 70 on water.
“The latest in sailing and catamarans will be on show with Markham Catamarans bringing the Markham 9800 flybridge Cruiser and the 8500 Dominator,” Woods said.
“Seawind Catamarans are back this year with the Seawind 1250, the 1000XL and the 1160. Multihull Solutions will be bringing a range of French-built luxury cats including the Lipari 41 and the Mahe 26 Evolution, which is being shown for the first time at the Mandurah Boat Show.”
Woods said the boats on water this year were some of the most impressive that the Show had ever seen.
Those in the market for trailer boats wont be disappointed, with the entire hardstand of the Show sold out and every available area utilised for displays. Peter compared this year’s Mandurah Boat Show to the Sydney Boat show, saying that Mandurah was as big as Sydney in total area.
“We are at capacity for the Show and still have more exhibitors wanting to show their stock. It’s going to be an exciting show for anyone on the market for a new boat!” he said.
“Estuary Marine will be bringing a range of trailer boats from major brands like Quintrex and Whittley, the Webster Twin Fisher and Yamaha Wave Runners.”
“In electronics, we have a world release of a brand new product from Fusion, as well as new releases from Navico. Other brands of electronics on display include Raymarine, Simrad, Garmin, Furuno and Lowrance,” he said.
Boating accessories and engines are a huge market, and this year’s exhibitors will be bringing new products and new releases.
“Visitors can look forward to the Australian release of the new Mercury outboard, as well as checking out all the latest in engines, inflatable boats, outboards, starter motors, pumps, propellers, generators and more,” Woods said.
The Club Marine Mandurah Boat Show opens this Friday at the Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing club, Mandurah Ocean Marina.
LOWRANCE last week launched its Elite 4 and Mark 4 sounder and sounder/GPS combo units in a media event held at Narabeen Lake north of Sydney.
