Boat Mate finds another mate

BOATMATE, a privately owned shipwright/repair and maintenance company based in Sydney has announced the acquisition of the shipwright and maintenance business, Rowell Marine at Heron Cove Marina Pittwater.

Directors Chris Way and Peter Gregg purchased BoatMate Pty Ltd in 2007. Initially the business was a small operation servicing yachts from the old RPAYC slipway but quickly expanded to more than 10 staff providing a wider range of services, serviced by a modern 50mT travel lift at the RPAYC with the capability to repair and maintain any type of yacht up to 50ft.The latest acquisition enables the company to extend their services even further.

"Rowell Marine and BoatMate have been working together for over a year on various jobs and this acquisition fits both companies very well," said Peter Gregg MD BoatMate.

"It provides the opportunity to expand our client base to include more power yachts and offer our existing clients at the RPAYC the major topsides and deck painting they often require," he said.

"It also provides us with access to over 3000m2 of hard stand area and our own slipway service and refueling capability. Since January BoatMate has been operating at both facilities; Heron Cove and the RPAYC. The company will service all existing clients to the expected high quality and with a larger work force of over 20 dedicated personnel and increased material purchasing power BoatMate will be able to offer the best service quality and prices possible."

For Rowell Marine, the sale of the maintenance and slipway branch of business allows them the freedom to focus on the expansion of their Marina and brokerage.
