BIA to host boat sharing forum

Have your say on proposed boat sharing regulations at Sydney forum.

The Boating Industry Association (BIA) is holding a forum later this month to discuss the impact of peer-to-peer sharing on the boating industry.

The forum follows the recent release of a proposal by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) for an exemption to commercial vessel regulations for the purposes of short-stay accommodation on board vessels while moored in a marina.

To help industry better understand this proposal and the benefits to business of embracing the sharing economy, as well as any negative impacts, the BIA will be presenting a moderated Sharing Economy Forum on Wednesday 20 June, 2018, at a venue yet to be decided in Sydney.

The forum will start at 5pm and the venue will be centrally located and confirmed by 18 June based on registered attendance.

To register and reserve a place at the forum, industry members are asked to email shane@bia.org.au as soon as possible.

The AMSA draft proposal, called EX27 (Short term marina accommodation) Exemption is open for comment until 26 June, 2018.
