BIA NSW warns about new consumer laws

THE Boating Industry Association  of NSW has issued a warning to its members to familiarise themselves with the new Australian Consumer Laws (ACL) which have come into effect to replace the provisions of the Trade Practices Act (1974).

This law will create new areas of risk exposure and change certain areas of compliance.

All business operators are urged to make certain of compliance with the new ACL and the new Regulation 90 which came into force in January.

Substantial penalties will apply for breach of warranty or for misleading or deceptive conduct by a business or its operator.

The BIA, together with the Motor Traders Association (MTA), in conjunction with the Office of Fair Trading and/or the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission will be staging free information and Q and A session across NSW.

Register your interest by contacting Aaron or Corrina at the BIA on (02) 9438 2077.
