BIA NSW holds inaugural Try Boating Day

THE Boating Industry Association of NSW ran its inaugural Try Boating Day as a pilot program in preparation for a statewide launch in 2012.

The BIA said 13 trailer boat dealers came together over five locations to give people the opportunity to Try Boating.

Over 110 families and groups preregistered with dozens more registering on the day. The Boating Industry Association said the Try Boating Day will be a welcome addition to its other experiential boating programs, Try Sailing Day and Try Crewing Day that are already in place.

BIA NSW GM Roy Privett said: “The concept of Try Boating Day is a natural progression from our past successes with other Try programs. Experiential marketing programs will play an important part of our future boat lifestyle programs and this pilot event will help us iron out any bugs before our state wide launch next year”.

The BIA’s pilot program was conducted in Putney, St George, Windsor, Penrith and Bayview.

Dealer teams came together in each location with boats in a variety of sizes and type.

The BIA plan to use the lessons learnt from the weekend's program to implement and extend it to a state wide program for the future. The association plans to capitalise on the many lessons including that not only new boaties arrived to experience boating, but those already committed to buying a boat in the near future used the day as an exercise to better understand the many boating options before making a purchase decision.
