Yammie appoints Fleet Marine

SYDNEY marine electrical and mechanical servicing business, Fleet Marine, has established a retail premises at d'Albora Marinas, at The Spit, and has been appointed as a fully authorised Yamaha Outboards dealer.

Anthony Daube director of Fleet Marine is enthusiastic and confident about the new direction of his business.

The original Fleet Marine was established at Newport some 15 years ago. The Bobbin Head workshop has been operational for seven years, while Fleet Marine has been trading at The Spit, Mosman for four years.

"When we decided to expand at The Spit from a workshop operation to also have a retail shop, we approached Yamaha with a view to sell and service their outboards," Daube said.

"We felt that we could do a great job for existing and prospective Yamaha customers in this area which was in need of a Yamaha dealer."

At this location, Fleet Marine is well positioned to engage and support the larger powerboat market. There are a massive number of open powerboats in the 6m to 10m category that are candidates for re-powering in the short to medium term. Similarly, the bigger boaters are big users of inflatable tenders which also need small portable Yamaha two-stroke or four-stroke outboard engines.

"What may not be as obvious to many people is the big number of commercial operators on the water in the Middle Harbour area. We already service many of these customers through our marine electrical business; now we can also assist them with Yamaha re-powers," he said.

"We have a slipping facilities right alongside our workshop so we are able to do major engine repowers on the slip, while other work such as anti fouling and so on can be done at the same time."
