WINDY Boats Australia, exclusive importer of Windy Boats and premium boat brokerage, has rebranded to become Graaf Marine in a restructure that includes adding Pursuit Boats to its exclusive imported range.
Pursuit Boats is the premier brand of outboard-powered, offshore and inshore fishing boats from the USA; Windy Boats is a premium brand of luxury sports cruisers and super-tenders from Norway. Graaf Marine is the sole importer and distributor for Australia.
Graaf Marine director Rob de Graaf said the recent addition to the company’s product offering was part of the plan to cover both cruising and fishing markets.
“We originally identified with Windy boats because they were built by craftspeople, not just churned out in a mass-production process,” de Graaf said.
“Pursuit follows a comparable principle to Windy and we are very proud to be associated with brands of this calibre.
“Both factories took their time to decide who would be their Australian importer and it demonstrates that these companies value relationships over numbers.
“This is a philosophy we subscribe to and something both Windy and Pursuit owners will benefit from in the short and long term.”
Windy boats range from 25’ to 58’ – all boats over 40’ are built to Ocean Category A and are compliant with Australian survey standards. Windy also builds the incredible Dubois-designed SR52 Blackbird super-tender, designed originally as an auxiliary vessel for superyachts. Windy is a significant rival to the biggest luxury powerboat brands and has a large and loyal following in Europe.
Pursuit currently builds four ranges: Offshore (23’-37’), Centre Console (20’-31’), Dual Console (26’) and Sport (28’-31’). All Pursuit boats are outboard powered – many of them twin and triple configuration – and provide a platform for serious fishing and serious fun.
Graaf Marine is displaying a Windy 48 Triton at its Sydney headquarters and will introduce the first Pursuit model in the near future.
LOWRANCE last week launched its Elite 4 and Mark 4 sounder and sounder/GPS combo units in a media event held at Narabeen Lake north of Sydney.
