Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show

We are looking forward to a great Show this year with hundreds of confirmed exhibitors and dozens of world and Australian marine product launches. The Show features three major pavilions, on-water displays through the marina and hardstand exhibits at the waterfront Marine Village.

We were delighted that exhibitors booked out the pavilions some months in advance while on-water marina displays and open-air exhibits should be substantial.

This year, visitors will see the Prestige Brokerage and Charter display on marina arm C. This is the first time we have introduced this component. Visitors can view some multi-million dollar vessels including boats of 30m.

Another 2010 initiative is the sea trial area. We introduced this component – an Australian first for a boat show – based on exhibitor feedback. It means that the exhibitors who have booked space here can take their prospective buyers and clients for a sea trial to cement  the sale.

While the past 18 months have been challenging for the marine sector, and indeed the wider economy, we believe the 2010 Show should produce an impetus towards growth.  Many of our exhibitors have chosen the Show for their world or Australasian launches and interest has been received from international buyers from Asia, Europe and the Pacific.

Of course, it is impossible to highlight all the new boats and marine products at the Show, but here’s a run-down of just some of the exhibits.

Within the larger power category, new larger power vessels displayed at the Show include the Australian release of the Fleming 65 while Queenslanders have their first peek at the M73 Motoryacht by Maritimo.

Riviera is releasing the 56 Open Flybridge in an Australian boat show launch and there will be expansive displays by luxury brands including Princess, Sunseeker and Fairline.

In the category of power under 50ft, new boats making Australasian or world debuts include the Arvor 215; Maritimo’s 47 Sports Cabriolet with Volvo Penta IPS drives and the new 470 Offshore Convertible sportfisher; Gold Coast company Montebello’s new 12.5M Coupe and Riviera’s 43 Open Flybridge.

Clipper Motor Yachts showcases the Cordova 48 semi-displacement motor yacht in an international show debut at Sanctuary Cove while exhibitor Multihull Solutions displays Fountaine Pajot’s Summerland 40 Trawler power catamaran.

The strong bookings in the pavilion have drawn a huge array of marine products and services. The Show is seen as the place where the marine business does business so it is no surprise to see many marine companies focusing on the trade.

Leading engine and propulsion companies at the Show include Cummins MerCruiser Diesel, Yanmar, Volvo Penta Oceania, Honda, Isuzu, Vetus, Caterpillar, Steyr, MTU, M.A.N and Twin Disc to name a few.

There’s a whole range of world releases in 2011 with Applied Satellite Technology Australia’s Satmate i60 which offers voice, data and tracking ability applicable to fishing vessels, leisure boats and on land in remote areas.

There are also plenty of national releases. Importer and distributor R Electronics brings the Seafari Versatile by US manufacturer HRO systems to the Show with other new products including the latest HD (high definition) range of OceanView Night Vision cameras. The company also launches in Australia the Lumitec Capera cockpit floodlight.

TMQ has several new products including the Autopilot TMQ AP47, the Echopilot 3 Dimensional Forward Sonar and the BM-1 Compact.

Line 7 is launching in Australia its Winter 2011 lifestyle range at Sanctuary Cove and is dressing the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show team this year.

On the Friday of the Show, industry members and the public are sure to be interested in the Australian Marine Industry Breakfast facilitated by Gold Coast City Marina.

The breakfast event features guest speaker from the US, Thom Dammrich, president of the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and president of the International Council for Marine Industries (ICOMIA).

Overall there is an underlying confidence surfacing within the industry and it appears that the marine sector is rebuilding itself from the gloom of late 2008 .

The 22nd Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show is held at Sanctuary Cove from Thursday, May 20 to Sunday, May 23.

During the Show, there is no public parking on site however streamlined transport options include Park ‘n’ Ride, water taxi and ferry transfer, helicopter transfer and limousine and taxi drop off. For details go to www.sanctuarycoveboatshow.com.au. The 2010 Show’s major sponsor is Club Marine. Media partners include Channel 7, Radio 4KQ, Trade A Boat, BoatPoint.com.au and Gold 92.5FM. Sponsors include Maritime Safety Queensland, Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove. Boat Show staff are dressed by Line 7.
