Nautek Marine Services is a Melbourne-based marine service provider specialising in the installation, sales and service of marine electronics and other mechanical and fibreglass repairs and restorations. Located in the heart of the docklands, the shopfront, chandlery and trailerboat workshop are located in Port Melbourne.
Nautek’s directors Adam Davey and Michael Fitzallen opened the business in 2006 with over 24 years combined experience in the avionics field (military, commercial and civilian). The pair recognised a lack of quality marine electrical services in Melbourne and began operating a couple of on-site vehicles.
“In four years we have expanded to a business that not only employes eight people in total, but we also bought out a shipwright company in mid-2008,” said Nautek MD Adam Davey.
“We now combine the electrical and shipwright expertise that enables us to take on any task, from trailer boat dash board re-modeling to bow thrusters in superyachts.”
Davey claims last year’s troubled economy didn’t impede on the company’s sales and growth.
“Nautek Marine has seen steady growth from day one, the global financial crisis didn’t affect us,” said Davey.
“2009 has been our biggest year to date. The key to our growth is being constantly pro-active. We conduct demo nights, fish the local comps and provide support and updates to our entire customer base.”
In late 2009, for the second year running, Nautek took out Furuno’s Dealer Awards for Victoria. JN Taylor, the dealer based distributors for Furuno, has run the Furuno Dealer Awards for the past three years.
Shane Beardmore, Furuno’s account manager for Victoria, South East Queensland and Northern NSW, said Sales performance awards are an important benchmark for these specialist businesses.
“It illustrates to the growing number of demanding users that they can expect the right solution for their needs first time with high levels of support from both dealer and distributor,” said Beardmore.
“Nautek received the award for its for top turnover or sales for the Victorian Region for last Financial.”
Adam Davey said: “Furuno is a premium product that requires factory training. This training comes in the way of basic sit down tutorial, on water training and constant product updates.“
“All Nautek Marine Services Electrical staff are fully trained and kept up to date with this training, and winning the dealer award proves that having the knowledge and passing it to your clients puts you in the front seat when it comes to sales and installation,” said Davey.
Davey said Nautek will take business to the next level with more staff, larger premises and offering more services in 2010.
