Musto sponsors Kiwi sail race events

Musto Australasia has sought to strengthen its ties across the Tasman by inking a three-year sponsorship agreement with New Zealand's Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club (RPNYC).

The deal sees the brand take over as naming rights sponsor for the Wellington-based club's 2009, 2010 and 2011 spring series racing events. The agreement, signed in conjunction with RPNYC chief executive officer Dean Stanley, has also resulted in Musto being afforded exclusive apparel status with the 123-year-old club helping to facilitate sales of branded marine apparel to members.

Musto managing director Duncan Cunrow said the deal would help boost the profile of the brand in New Zealand while also assisting the club to ensure the commercial success of future events.

This is not the first agreement of this nature undertaken by the brand with similar arrangements in place with Queensland's Southport Yacht Club, Victoria's Sandringham Yacht Club, the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria and the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia. The move coincides with a raft of changes at Musto's Sydney headquarters with a move to larger premises, additions to its staff roster and a second multi-brand store also on the cards.
