Mercury's outboard guru retires

AFTER more than three decades of dedicated service, Ken Evans has retired from Mercury Marine.

Evans, who was director of Outboard Products and Commercial and Government Business, first announced his plan to retire last year.

That decision has now taken effect.

“We are certainly going to miss Ken after he’s played such a prominent role in the business,” said John Temple, GM for the Australia, New Zealand Pacific (ANZP) region.

One of Mercury Marine’s key objectives worldwide is the continuing good health of its dealer networks, and a key factor in ensuring this is providing all dealers with detailed product features and benefits sales training.

Mercury Marine has taken the opportunity to engage Ken’s services as an independent training consultant. Evans will be travelling throughout Australia and New Zealand presenting detailed product training sessions across the extensive Mercury Marine dealer network.

Evans will also continue his involvement as a representative for Mercury Marine on the Outboard Engine Distributor Association (OEDA).

Evans' previous responsibilities have been allocated between the existing management team:

Will Sangster, director of sales – responsible for all sales through the organisation’s network of retail dealers.

Nicholas Webb, director of marketing and Outboard Product – responsible for all outboard product management and marketing communications.

David Meehan, director of MerCruiser Product & Sales – responsible for all MerCruiser product management as well as all Commercial & Government Business across the ANZP business units.

“On behalf of everyone in the ANZP team I’d like to thank Ken for his outstanding contribution and wish him all the best for his new challenge as a consultant,” Temple said.
