Crowds roll up for Tinnie and Tackle Show

The three day show which ran from Friday  March 19 until Sunday March 21 provided visitors with a showcase of what Queensland’s trailer boat industry has on offer in 2010.

The show, which co-located with the National 4x4 and Outdoors Show for the sixth year in a row, set new crowd records with peak attendances across all three days of the show. The total crowd figure of 35, 537 was twelve per cent higher than last year’s show which attracted 31,644 over the three days.

Jason Plant from the Tinnie and Tackle Show said that this year’s attendance figures were testament to the fact that Queenslander’s love getting outdoors and enjoying the boating lifestyle.

“We were privileged to present a range of firsts at this year’s show including the international debut of the Black Watch 22’ Centre Console and Tournament 2050 Walkabout. We also had the recently released CruiseCraft Explorer 485 and 530 and Stessl Boats ‘Coast Runner’ range,” said Plant.

“The Tinnie and Tackle Show and National 4x4 and Outdoors Show is certainly establishing itself as one of Brisbane’s iconic annual events.”

Marine accessories, chandlery items and fishing tackle were amongst the show’s biggest sellers with Hervey Bay-based company Cooper Anchors running out of stock by lunchtime on Saturday.

“We are thrilled with the response we had to our newly developed nylon boat anchor. It’s the only one of its kind in the world and visitors to the show welcomed it with open arms,” said Jon Cooper manager of Cooper Anchors.

Fishing Tackle retailer Allround Angler reported a 10 per cent increase in sales on last year.

“Visitor numbers exceeded all expectations … our staff were run off their feet,” said Peter Teske owner of the Caboolture based tackle shop.

First time exhibitor’s at the show, Dunbier Trailers were likewise impressed with visitors to the show.

“We thought the show directly targeted our marine client base. When you add the visitors who came to visit the 4WD side of the show, it gave us a great future client set. It was a pleasure to exhibit in such a well planned and advertised show,” said Shane Kite from Dunbier Marine Products.

Show organiser’s, Marine Queensland, was extremely pleased with the results from this year’s event and is now looking forward to the 50th Brisbane Boat Show which we will be held from the 26th to the 29th of August 2010.
